Puchberg am Schneeberg is an old town close to Vienna, with a beautiful view over the Schneeberg mountain, and its waterfall looks nice in winter time.

 

I’ve used this post to check out the possibility to display a map of the place (below) based on the geotag information pulled directly from the photos and it seems to work just fine. Lately I have started to geotag my images and if anyone is interested I am using a phone GPS tracker application voYaa,  Jeffrey Friedl’s geocoding plugin for Lightroom, and the Boris Geotag plugin for WordPress.

 

I have also been trying for quite a while to figure out how to display the photo EXIF data in WordPress, and also as of late I am using the WPExifView plugin.

I considered that My Ricoh GXR was missing a case and after having ditched all other options, either due to not liking the design, bad reviews for other cases or simply considering there was too much hassle to order from some Japan vendors, I was lucky to have found Luigi soon after completing his work on the first half-cases for my camera. The service (communication, fast delivery) was top notch and I am very satisfied about the half-case which is really well made, good quality leather, with additional grip and soft leather strap. It is comfortable to use and fits perfectly my Ricoh GXR and the Leica M mount module.

Does the camera really need it? Well, it certainly protects the camera but considering the price of a new body which is almost the price of the half-case, I can’t give too many arguments from this point of view (as compared to let’s say Leica cameras which have a higher value), however if you are after the quality of well made things, the overall photographing experience, not looking as an investment but as a passion (for me this is a hobby and I try to make it nicer every time I can), it definitely is a very good product and I am enjoying it much! So much that I decided to shoot a couple of photos of it (and yes, I have thrown in some of my lenses as well…)

I have began to like more this photography style since I bought the Ricoh GXR and especially the M-mount module, which allows me for a small and light and inconspicuous photo gear to get closer to the street action. These are a selection from last year shooting during the Christmas period in Vienna.

The three photos above are actually taken with the small(er) sensor Ricoh S10 module, while the rest below are with the Voigtlander Heliar 15mm 4.5 mounted on the Ricoh M-module.

The photos were developed from GXR’s RAW files using the excellent Raw Photo Processor, which I highly recommend for extracting the last amount of detail from RAW, with a nice rendering and clarity. I am still in the learning phase with this program but overall it does a nice job!
